A software development project funded by  This 18 month project has now been completed. Reports from the project can be downloaded from the 'progress and results' page.  The Unified Model (UM) is a numerical model owned and maintained by the UK Met Office and is used by the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) funded research community for research ranging from climate to weather and air quality. The UK research community uses a broad range of computing platforms to run these numerical models on, from local clusters to National High Performance Computing Services to the Earth Simulator in Japan.  Generic Unified Model scalability is therefore key to the successful exploitation of the wide variety of computing facilities used by the NERC funded research community. |
